Privacy Policy

No tracking

BookLike contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. It does not know who you are, what sites you visit, or what you read.

EPUB download

EPUB files are generated entirely on your device — the article content is never sent to BookLike's servers. If you choose to include images, the URL of each image is sent to BookLike's image proxy so it can be fetched and embedded in the file. Images are processed in memory and are not stored or logged. Requests are routed through Cloudflare's infrastructure; Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP address, timestamp) in accordance with their privacy policy.

To enforce a fair-use monthly limit on image proxying, a randomly generated anonymous ID is stored locally on your device. It contains no personal information and is used solely for rate limiting — it is not linked to any account or identity.

Dictionary lookups

When you look up a word using the built-in dictionary, the selected word is sent to a third-party dictionary API to retrieve its definition. Looked-up words are cached in memory for the duration of your session to avoid redundant requests, but are never persisted or logged.

Preferences

Your reading preferences (font, font size, theme, etc.) are saved locally on your device and never sent to BookLike or synced across devices.

Permissions

BookLike requests the following browser permissions:

activeTab

Allows the extension to read and modify the current tab when you click the icon.

scripting

Required to inject the reader interface into the current page.

storage

Saves your reading preferences and anonymous rate-limit ID locally on your device.

contextMenus

Adds a "Read in BookLike" option to the right-click menu.

api.booklike.app

Used to proxy images when generating an EPUB with images included.

api.dictionaryapi.dev

Used to look up word definitions in the built-in dictionary.
